In October 2007 Janet Wheeler invited a small group of singers to perform at a Voices for Hospices concert in Surrey. The singers, from the Cambridge/Herts/Essex area, found making music together in this small ensemble an especially rewarding experience. This led to the formation of the Granta Chorale who gave their first, warmly received, concert A Ceremony of Carols at the candlelit parish church of Holy Trinity, Chrishall on 6 January 2008.
